Three Rhode Island restaurants have been named “most romantic” as the result of reviews given by consumers across the country. Making the list of the Top 100 Romantic Restaurants on the website OpenTable.com are Basil’s Restaurant in Narragansett, Bouchard Restaurant in Newport, and the Spiced Pear in Newport.
The ratings were given after evaluating five-million reviews consumer reviews.
The reviews rated Italian, French, American,European/continental, fondue,and seafood cuisines as the most popular.
Once again the Central Falls receiver will try and meet with the full city council. It’s a chance for the receiver’s office to walk elected officials through a five-year plan guiding the city back to financial solvency.
Three city council members have skipped a handful of earlier meetings. Council president William Benson Jr. is one of them. He says there’s no legal reason why he should meet and go over the plan, so don’t expect him there Monday night.

Despite the same sex marriage momentum on Smith Hill, one lawmaker wants to put the issue on a ballot to let Rhode Islanders vote on changing the definition of marriage.
State Senator Frank Ciccone says his constituents are clamoring for a say on this red-hot issue. His proposed referendum would define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. "My constituents want it placed on the ballot so they have an opportunity to vote so they can make a choice on whether or not they are in favor of same sex marriage. And I am at this point in agreement with them."
“Just pass it.” That’s what House Speaker Gordon Fox says he wants the senate president to do with the same-sex marriage bill that passed last night and is now heading to the senate. The House vote was not only an historic vote, but an emotional one.

The fourth quarter report on housing sales in Rhode Island during 2012 is filled with good news. The report issued by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors says that median prices for single-family homes, multi-family home and condominiums all increased. In addition foreclosures and short sales dropped for all three categories.
In the single-family home market the Association reports sales activity went up by 25 percent and the median price increased five-percent to 195-thousand-dollars. The market between buyers and sellers was evenly matched.
Former Boston Mayor and Ambassador to the Vatican Ray Flynn was the keynote speaker at a Statehouse event marking the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
Flynn was a guest of Rhode Island Right to Life which stages a protest every year on the anniversary of the controversial ruling. He told about 200 people assembled that they should take pride in the work they do.
(PROVIDENCE, RI) The Rhode Island State Senate is holding a hearing Tuesday afternoon on School Safety in the state. In attendance will be state public safety and emergency preparedness officials along with Education Commissioner Deborah Gist.
This hearing follows the fatal shooting at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown Connecticut last month. 26 students and staff were killed at the school. In addition the gunman killed his mother and himself.
