The Rhode Island Public Radio Fall Gala took place on September 24th, 2016 at The Vets in Providence. Ira Glass, host and co-creator of This American Life performed on stage, sharing stories and lessons learned from his years of producing the program. A few Rhode Island Public Radio listeners met with Ira Glass before his performance.

Rhode Island Public Radio, the NPR Member Station for Rhode Island, has named public radio veteran Torey Malatia as President, CEO, and General Manager.

Malatia brings to Rhode Island nearly two decades of public radio experience, most recently as CEO of WBEZ/Chicago Public Media. Malatia’s accomplished public radio career includes the co-founding of This American Life, a ground-breaking program that changed the sound of public radio. He was also instrumental in the development of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me, one of the most popular programs distributed by NPR.
