Twin River Worldwide Holdings plans to make its Providence headquarters in the Wexford Innovation Complex in the I-195 District, the company said Monday.

Twin River has signed a letter of intent to occupy 12,000 square feet on the sixth floor of the Wexford building. If everything goes according to plan, the company said it will occupy the new space with an initial 30 employees in the first half of 2021.

“When we announced last year we would locate our corporate headquarters in our hometown of Providence, we noted we wanted to be a part of the city’s resurgence, but now, we want to be one of its catalysts,” Twin River Executive Vice President Marc Crisafulli said in a statement. “One material way we can do that is to locate a good number of our employees in an up-and-coming region of the City and in a building that was designed to celebrate the growing entrepreneurial spirit of the city, and more broadly, across the state.”

Twin River and IGT, the company that provides most of Rhode Island’s gambling services, last week announced a joint proposal for the future of the state’s gambling.

Crisafulli said Twin River hopes to locate a larger number of employees at the Wexford site in the future.

Twin River also proposes to pay $100,000 a year, through 2043, to buy naming rights for a riverfront park near the Wexford complex.

Twin River operates casinos in Lincoln and Tiverton. The company’s holdings also include include three casinos in Colorado and one each in Delaware and Mississippi.
